Winter is Here

Winter is here but we haven’t seen much snow accumulation and have had on and off warmer weather, but we are in for some much colder conditions this week. That’s why Ben and Loren worked hard last week to make sure all of the heated water systems for the animals were up and running. During the much colder conditions, it’s important that we keep water available for everyone and that we give them the high quality hay we harvested over the summer since our livestock consumes that hay to intake more calories to turn to energy to keep them warm and comfortable. If you ever come for a farm pick up, you’ll notice everyone has access to areas under cover for shelter but the cattle like to stand outside in the middle of a snowstorm. If you see snow on an animal’s back, that’s a great sign that their outer coat is keeping them nice and warm despite the weather conditions.
